πŸ”§ Designing manufacturing around people.

In STARHAUS, expanding the Manufacturing Demonstration Facility (MDF) beyond personalized detergents to include beverages, pet food, breakfast cereals, and fertilizers required a strong focus on adaptability and user needs.

By combining modular design, additive manufacturing, rapid prototyping, and smart automation, the project developed new hardware modules that integrate seamlessly into the existing platform while remaining cost-effective and scalable.

A special thanks goes to Cody and their team, whose expertise in mechanical and electrical design has helped make the MDF the centrepiece of the STARHAUS project. Their work has been instrumental in transforming the platform into a flexible, expandable, and user-centric manufacturing system capable of supporting multiple use cases.

The engineering teams also focused on transparency and added valueβ€”from UV-assisted inspection systems to real-time image recognition that allows users to see the manufacturing process in action.

Thanks to a flexible communication architecture and standardized interfaces, new modules can continue to be added as future needs emerge, demonstrating the power of decentralized, human-centric manufacturing.
